Espanyol 2-0 Deportivo: Simao inspires Aguirre’s men to victory

Espanyol won the bottom of the table battle as Simao Sabrosa and Christian Stuani scored the goals to secure a 2-0 win over Deportivo.

02 spain 2Both sides started this one in good spirits and showcased some attacking play that neither has been capable of so far this season.

It would be Espanyol who took the lead when Simao jumped higher than everyone to head Javier Aguirre’s side in front.

Chances were fewer in the second half but Raul Baena came close for the hosts as they continued to look good on the counter attack.

Jose Luis Oltra’s side had numerous chances to draw level but Nelson Oliveira, Pizzi and Abel Aguilar were all guilty of missing.

The hosts then sealed the points with minutes remaining on the clock through Christian Stuani.
