The World XI 2012 featured five players from Barcelona, five players from Real Madrid and one player from Atletico Madrid.
The team was as follows: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Dani Alves (Barcelona), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Leo Messi (Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) and Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid).
The World XI is not only a testament to the talent of La Liga, but also of the Spanish national team, as six members of the Spanish national team that came home with the 2012 European Championship (Alonso, Iniesta, Xavi, Casillas, Pique and Ramos) feature in the lineup.
The remaining players are from Portugal (Cristiano Ronaldo), Brazil (Dani Alves and Marcelo), Colombia (Radamel Falcao), and Argentina (Leo Messi).
