Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone was not upset by his side’s 0-0 draw with Getafe on Thursday evening, insisting that the objective was to advance in the Cope del Rey tournament, and with the three goals scored in the first leg, that is exactly what they did.

Diego SimeoneIn his post-match press conference, Simeone praised the attitude of his players, but did admit that he would have preferred that they be a bit sharper in front of the goal.

“We lacked a little bit of precision in terms of finishing, we had chances to score.

“Right now this is how it is, so we just have to look to the next game, which will be tough. Both Las Palmas and Betis are tough opponents, so we’ll need to be on our guard for either of them.”

Simeone then discussed several hard fouls on striker, Radamel Falcao.

“It’s football, it’s normal. It’s what happens in the game. It’s up to the referee to decide what the players can and can’t do.”

Simeone concluded by discussing the last minute scratch of Adrian, who was out due to the stomach flu.

“We were looking to play with Adrián, who gives us pace on the right. In the end he couldn’t make it and we just hope he’s ok tomorrow.”
