Elche and Manchester City sign ‘grassroots’ agreement

Spanish Segunda side, Elche and reigning English Premier League champions, Manchester City have reached a collaborative agreement over the use and exchange of methodologies and players.

ManCityAcademyThe first stages of the agreement are English courses for the players, plus football seminars and matches for the Elche cantera players in Manchester this summer.

Representatives for the Manchester City youth academy will travel to Elche next week to learn about the facilities and meet with Elche representatives in preparation of their upcoming collaborative exchanges.

Elche players born between 1995 and 2002 will move to Manchester City’s facilities during the month of July, where they will not only receive English classes, but work at the Etihad Campus with club professionals to develop tactics, technique and physical training.

The head of Manchester City’s youth academy, Neil Roberts will visit the club on Friday to begin the initial stages of the project.
