The team is doing things well, with sacrifice and work, and now we face the first game against Madrid, a big team that is always fighting for all of the championships.”

The first match in the treble is the Copa del Rey quarterfinal to be played in the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday, January 15. Banega pointed out “it has been some time since Valencia have beaten Real Madrid and now have various matches to do so”.

Banega also remained mum about the recent controversy surrounding Jose Mourinho’s starting choices. “Madrid is Madrid and whoever plays, plays well. They always go out to win”.

Regarding Valencia’s troubles in the first half of La Liga, Banega continued to be optimistic saying, “there are some teams that don’t last the whole season and we should take now to get all the points we can to be higher up in the standings”.
