Rayo Vallecano have completed the transfer of Steaua Bucharest’s Brazilian striker, Gabriel Machado.

MachadoAccording to Spanish radio station, Cadena SER, Machado, who holds an Italian passport, comes on a free transfer from the Romanian club, where he has barely seen any consistent first-team minutes, playing just four matches last year and only one cup match this season.

Machado has bounced around Europe since arriving at Swiss side Grasshopper from Juventude in 2008, playing for Stade Nyonnais, Universitatea Cluj for 61 matches, before finally landing in Steaua Bucharest in 2012.

Rayo have a history of making little know goal-scorers in world-class talents, as evident in Michu and rising star, Leo Bapstistao and are hoping the 23-year-old Machado will help the club in their attempts to reach a European position in la Liga, something that seems increasingly possible given the club’s good run of form under first-year manager, Paco Jemez.
