Madrid reject Napoli’s offer for Carvalho
Jose Mourinho has vetoed a move by Italian side Napoli to sign Madrid centre half Ricardo Carvalho.
Under normal circumstances, Real Madrid would have accepted the offer that has been tabled for Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho. However, Jose Mourinho’s side are in something of a defensive crisis at the moment.
With Sergio Ramos in the midst of a 5 game ban, handed down for the abuse of match officials, and with Pepe still out with an ankle injury, Mourinho has been forced to rely on the player he took to Chelsea and then to Madrid.
Carvalho has played well since his return to the first team. His best performance was in the Copa del Rey second leg game v Celta Vigo and he is certainly giving his manager food for thought.
Napoli are third in Italy’s Serie A and remain five points behind leaders Juventus. They may chance their arm with a higher bid before the end of the transfer window but this is also likely to be rebuffed by the hierachy at the Santiago Bernabeu.
