According to reports, Chelsea are ready to pay €55m (£46m) plus goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in exchange for ‘El Tigre’  Radamel Falcao.

falcao14Whilst Atletico Madrid are still keen to hang onto the player, staying at the Vicente Calderon past the end of the season seems the most unlike scenario at present.

Chelsea are now ready to firm up their initial interest with a big money offer to take the player to West London, and they have stolen a march on their rivals by declaring their interest so publicly now.

The Blues supremo Roman Abramovich is desperate to make a ‘marquee’ signing during the summer, and the Columbian hitman has topped his shopping list ever since he single handedly destroyed his Chelsea side during the Supercup Final at the start of the season.

Falcao has been on fire again this season and has already notched 22 goals in 21 appearances. It is that kind of form that has carried his Atletico team into second place in La Liga.

Chelsea’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is currently enjoying a successful spell in Madrid, will be thrown in as part of the deal to bring Falcao to England.
