Real Madrid eye young Basque keeper
Real Madrid are keen to explore the possibility of signing young Basque keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.
The teenager, who has represented Spain at various youth levels and played a decisive role in guiding the Spanish U19 side to become European champions last year has already started to impress possible suitors, seeing club Athletic Bilbao take desperate measures to stop the starlet leaving the club.
However, his current youth contract with the club has a release clause that sees the keeper automatically activate a three-year contract if he makes more than 10 official league appearances for the first team.
That is unlikely to happen this season and that will allow various clubs who are interested to make a move, with Real Madrid sending scouts to keep an eye on his performances and situation at the club.
Born in Ondarroa, Vizcaya, the 18-year-old keeper has occasionally trained with Athletic’s senior squad but has yet to make his debut with the first team in official competition.
