Andres Iniesta buys shares in Albacete
Barcelona and Spain star Andres Iniesta has purchased €500,000 worth of shares in his youth club Albacete.
Albacete Balompie announced yesterday that the Barcelona star, who spent two years with the club as a child, snapped up €500,000 worth of shares in the latest public offering to stabilise the club’s finances.
The cash from Iniesta will give the club a huge boost as they look to bounce back after suffering relegation from the Segunda Division last season.
Born in the small town of Fuentealbilla, Iniesta was on Albacete’s books for two seasons before he was spotted by whom he joined at the age of 12.
Andres’ father, Jose Antonio Iniesta, will join the Albacete board and is considered a strong candidate to be elected as vice-president.
