Atlético Madrid turn their attention to Dzeko

Atlético Madrid have set their sights on a potential move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Edin DzekoNow that the chance of Atlético Madrid signing Sevilla striker Álvaro Negredo is “Zero” according to the Andaluz club’s President, José María del Nido, the Madrid club are now setting their sights elsewhere.

Interestingly, the more likely move of Negredo to Manchester City, could pave the way for Atlético Madrid to make a bid for Bosnian striker Edin Džeko, according to speculation in the Spanish press.

Džeko has become increasingly frustrated at not having secured a key role at Manchester City and has been linked with a summer move, with no shortage of interest from clubs such as Napoli, amongst others.

Atlético are keen to find a replacement for Radamel Falcao as quickly as possible, but since their move for Negredo seems to have failed, they are now looking at alternative options and where one door seemingly closes, another one opens.

Should Manchester City complete their move for Sevilla striker Negredo, this would present an opportunity for Atlético to convince Bosnian striker Džeko, that he can spearhead their La Liga campaign next season.
