A Karim Benzema double helped Real Madrid beat a five-thousand strongly supported Granada on Saturday night 5-1 to gain a six point lead over second place Barcelona.

For it Granada, it was the first time they had visited the Santiago Bernabeu in 36-years and to mark the occasion 50 bus loads of faithful fans travelled to the game.

The hosts took the lead on the 20th minute when Mesut Ozil’s brilliant touch allowed Karim Benzema to tap in from close range.

Thoese 5,000 travelling fans then had a goal to cheer about themselves when Fran Rico arrived unmarked in the area after fine work from on-loan striker Ikechukwu Uche.

Sergio Ramos then gave La Liga’s leaders the advantage when he met a Mesut Ozil corner to head past keeper Roberto.

However, Granada felt unhappy and after watching replays rightly so as Ramos appeared to punch full-back Allan Nyom in the back as the pair tangled.

The second half kicked off with Real 2-1 up but some awful defending by the away side put the game to bed when Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema both scored.

Brazilian Kaka entered the game just afterwards and linked up with Ronaldo on numerous occasions and it was the latter who completed the rout when he ran onto a Kaka ball and fired home past the helpless Roberto.
