Leo Baptistao feels that it will be a different experience facing the famous Rayo Vallecano shirt, rather than playing it.

Simeone & BaptistaoAhead of the match between Atlético Madrid and Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Leo Baptistao admitted that “playing against the stripe of Rayo will feel strange,” but was clear that he hoped “Atlético come out as winners.”

On the bench for the league match at Sevilla and the Super Copa tie against Barcelona, Baptistao also suggested that he’s ready to play.

“Physically I feel very good. I have been working well since pre-season, but I don’t know if I will be starting this game or not. All I’ve thought about is playing at the weekend, our next game and our second league game of the season.”

Baptistao further underlined that he won’t be looking to do his former side any favours, whilst also looking further ahead to the second-leg of the Super Copa at Barcelona.

“We want to win this game and then see what happens against Barcelona.”

As the Brazilian striker had previously indicated during pre-season, he remains comfortable with the competition with the likes of Diego Costa and David Villa for a place in the Atlético Madrid forward line.

“We know that the arrival of David Villa provides incredible competition, but I think his arrival here is phenomenal. I’m delighted to be with them and I want to learn from them.”

Though his past knowledge of Rayo Vallecano could prove useful in the game on Sunday, Baptistao said that Diego Simeone hadn’t asked for any advice.

“The boss knows all our opponents well and he hasn’t spoken with me about them.”
