Aguirre: I’m very scared Casilla could leave
Espanyol manager, Javier Aguirre recently admitted that he is terrified that the club might come to him one day with an offer for goalkeeper Kike Casilla, while also stating that his team isn’t completely full but will have “no excuses” if no one comes this June.
In his pre-match press conference against Valencia, Aguirre spoke about his need to add more players to the squad, before admitting that he would hate if one of those players happened to be Kike Casilla, of who the Mexican thinks very highly.
“I want a striker with different characteristics. Thievy and Sergio Garcia are good in the air. I haven’t stated a specific name. Stuani is a player Espanyol signed as a striker and he could be an option, but I prefer someone bigger.
“Am I scared of Casilla leaving? Terrified, I hope he doesn’t go. He’s a player who has a bright future. He’s very involved, helping the younger players and I do not want him to do”
Aguirre then touched on the case of Wakaso, who has received a lucrative €6 million offer from Russian side, Rubin Kazan.
“If Wakaso leaves, or any player for that matter, we’d have to find a replacement for his position.”
Aguirre concluded by discussing this Saturday’s match against Valencia.
“Valencia will want to be the protagonists, they are a strong team. They added depth and will put on a good show. Our defense must improve on what we did against Celta and convert more chances in the final third.”
