Javi Martínez to undergo minor groin surgery
Bayern Munich and Spain midfielder Javi Martínez will undergo a minor operation to resolve a troublesome groin complaint.
Having been initially called up to the Spain squad, for the upcoming games against Finland and Chile, Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martínez was withdrawn and replaced by Manchester City midfielder Javi García on Monday, after it was revealed he will undergo minor surgery to resolve a groin complaint that has troubled him recently.
The surgical procedure will treat pain that Javi Martínez has been experiencing, diagnosed as being an inguinal hernia. The minor operation is straightforward to perform, but providing there are no complications, medical staff at Bayern Munich felt that the international break was the ideal opportunity to proceed, thus minimising the number of games the player might miss for his team.
