Portillo extends contract with Malaga until 2016
Malaga midfielder Francisco Portillo has extended his contract with the Spanish club until 2016 after receiving assurance from manager Bernd Schuster that his future belongs at the club.
Spanish side Malaga has announced that 23-year-old midfielder Portillo has extended his contract with the club after a long negotiation process between the two parties.
Portillo’s original deal was set to expire in 2015 but Malaga determined that it was wise to ensure his stay at the club after he received interest from other clubs during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish midfielder has not feature extensively for Malaga over the last few seasons and it was rumored that he could leave the club to find a more permanent position elsewhere.
However, with several players leaving Malaga this summer manager Bernd Schuster has assured Portillo that he is a very important player in the current squad and has a future at the club which made contract negotiations go over much easier.
Portillo’s contract has been signed and is officially completed and Spanish daily paper Marca has reported that the player will hold a press conference either later today or tomorrow.
