AFE President Luis Rubiales elected as Vice-President of FIFPro
The head of the Spanish Players Union (AFE) has joined the ranks of the FIFPro, The International Federation of Professional Footballers.
Hailing from Motril in Granada province and President of AFE since 2010, 36-year-old Luis Rubiales has been elected as Vice-President of The International Federation of Professional Footballers, FIFPro.
The former Levante defender was elected alongside new President of FIFPro, Frenchman Philippe Piat, during a meeting of players association heads from each representative country, held in Holland between 18th and 19th September.
AFA proudly announced the appointment as an important step for the representation of Spanish football and congratulated their leader.
Rubiales has become a highly popular figure amongst footballers in Spain, since his 2010 appointment as leader of AFE, where he immediately embarked upon a series of wide ranging reforms.
Once his position with FIFPro is ratified on 22nd October, Rubiales will hold his position for a period of four years.
