Varane suffers injury set-back with France
Real Madrid centre-back, Raphael Varane has suffered another knee injury while on international duty with France and was forced to withdraw from the team’s training on Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
Varane underwent right knee surgery on his exterior meniscus after injuring it on 11th May against Espanyol and after missing the team’s entire pre-season campaign and the first month of the season, the 20-year-old made his long-awaited return against Copenhagen last Wednesday and Levante this past Sunday.
However, Varane experienced discomfort in his knee and was promptly examined by the team’s medical staff, who have yet to release any details regarding the extent of the injury.
Real Madrid are awaiting word from the medical staff on the severity of the injury, as Real Madrid are left with very few centre-back options, with Nacho currently being the only one to take the place of Sergio Ramos or Pepe, and may force the club to look at options this summer.
