Malaga to announce Sergi Darder contract renewal until 2017 on Monday
Malaga will officially announce the contract renewal of 19-year-old central midfielder, Sergi Darder , who will remain with the Andalusian side until 2017.
According to local reports from AS’s, Antonio Gallardo, Malaga have come to terms with the promising Balearic youngster and will make the official announcement in a press conference on Monday.
Darder began his career with Espanyol’s youth system, where he worked his way up the ranks from 2007-2011 before making his way to Espanyol B for the 2011-2012 making 36 appearances.
However, despite learning his craft in Catalunya, Darder signed with Malaga in 2012 and was immediately placed with their B-side, who were in the same division as his former club, Espanyol B.
After 37 appearances with the B-side, new manager, Bernd Schuster saw Darder’s obvious talent and promoted him to the first time on 14th August 2013, where he was immediately thrown into the fire, making his Primera debut in a loss to Valencia, three days later.
Darder has made 8 appearances this season and has been a bright spot in a team that has sold their star central midfielders over the past several years.
