Kolo Toure: Yaya was better but Guardiola preferred Busquets
Liverpool defender, Kolo Toure has blamed former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola for pushing his brother Yaya Toure out of the Camp Nou.
In a recent interview with English daily, The Sun, the elder Toure stated that it was the current Bayern Munich manager’s bias towards Catalan Sergio Busquets that forced Yaya Toure to leave the club and join Kolo at Manchester City in 2010.
“Managers come to clubs bringing players with them and they want to pick them at all costs – whether they are any good or not.
“Yaya was much better than Sergio Busquets at Barcelona. But he was behind him in the pecking order and he found that hard to accept.”
Kolo went on to add that he is proud of his brother for taking his advice and making the move to the Etihad, where he has found the respect he believes he didn’t receive at Barcelona.
“I advised him to come to Manchester City while I was still there. He listened to his big brother’s advice – and now he is the big boss on the field for them.”
