Fatih Terim laughs off Real Betis’ rumoured interest in Alberto Riera
Former Galatasaray manager, Fatih Terim has scoffed at Real Betis’ rumoured interested in midfielder, Alberto Riera, stating that the Andalusian side doesn’t have nearly enough money to pay for his transfer and the amount they’re rumoured to be wanting to pay won’t cut it.
In a recent interview, Terim defended his former club and blasted Betis, if the rumours were indeed true.
“The other day I read in the newspapers that [Betis’] were interested in [Alberto Riera] and I was very surprised because it sounded like Betis wanted to take Riera on a loan from January to May for just €250,000 when he is currently making €1.5 million. It’s not possible that in Turkey, we pay transfers outside the market and then end up with nothing in the coffers. In addition, the less money we take in on transfers, the less money for salaries.”
Real Betis are looking to strengthen their squad after falling to dead-last in La Liga.
