Real Betis’ Xavi Torres to miss 4-5 months with torn achilles

Real Betis defensive midfielder, Xavi Torres is expected to miss the next four to five months after after suffering a torn achillies in a meaningless 0-0 Europa League draw with HNK Rijeka on Wednesday evening at the Benito Villamarin.

Xavi Torres injuryIn the 57th minute, Torres was forced to come off the pitch after he pulled up injured and was immediately replaced by striker Ruben Castro.

Torres immediately went to the locker room to undergo tests where it was determined that he had torn his left achilles tendon, a massive blow to an already beleagured Betis side.

Betis manager, Garrido announced in his post-match press conference that Xavi Torres has suffered a serious injury and it was later announced that he would undergo surgery at the Fremap clinic on Friday morning and would be out of action for four to five months.

Torres has been a vital part of the club’s plans this season and Garrido admitted that it was an injury that had stunned everyone in the dressing room.
