Barcelona and Spanish international midfielder, Andres Iniesta have reportedly reached an agreement, in principal, over a contract extension which would keep the 29-year-old at the Camp Nou until 2018.

Accrording to Catalan radio station, RAC1, Iniesta, whose current contract is set to expire in 2015, will add an addition three years to his current contract, which will likely include a lucrative pay raise.

Barcelona and Iniesta were both optimistic and the player’s sole demand was in regards to the amount of years, as he stated that he wanted to feel appreciated by the club.

In addition, Iniesta’s release clause will be set at €200 million, which will be the club’s second highest release clause behind Leo Messi’s €250 million buy-out clause.

Barcelona had hoped to wrap up the negotiations before the Christmas break and now that an agreement has been agreed upon, the Blaugrana will likely make the official announcement in the coming days with the official contract signing coming following the break.
