Coentrao: I just want to forget about this year
Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao is keen to put 2013 well behind him, following a series of injury problems and the death of his father.
It hasn’t been the best of years for Fabio Coentrao and speaking to Portuguese sports portal Abola, the attacking full-back explained that he’s keen to look ahead towards the future, after a miserable 2013.
In his professional career, he’s been plagued by injury problems, whilst in his personal life, Coentrao suffered that sad loss of his father in November, following a long illness.
“I just want to forget about this year and I have good reasons for that. I’ve been through seven months of suffering. As my head hasn’t been right, the rest of my body hasn’t either.”
With 2013 nearing its conclusion, Coentrao is understandably keen to see a much better 2014, for both his club and his country.
“I want to get myself back to full strength, help Real Madrid achieve their objectives and for Portugal to at least reach the level we did in the 2010 World Cup.”
