Iniesta: Sometimes things are said without thinking or without meaning to cause hurt
Barcelona midfielder, Andres Iniesta has played down the public rift between the club’s economic vice-president, Javier Faus and four-time Ballon d’Or winner, Leo Messi over a potential seventh contract renewal for the Argentine in the past five years.
In a recent interview with Spanish television station, La Sexta’s, ‘Jugones’ programme, Iniesta spoke about the issue and stressed that Messi has justified the renewed contracts because of what he means and gives to the club.
“Sometimes things are said without thinking or without meaning to cause hurt. Messi is a fundamentalplayer. He is for me, and for the club too.
“I’d love for Messi to win the Ballon d’Or, everyone as Barca would feel like part of the award.”
Iniesta went on to discuss his own contract renewal, which will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2018 when he is the ripe ol’ age of 34.
“I went to the signing with my parents and my daughter. I thought about a lot and I was the proudest person in the world. My dream is to be able to end my career at Barça.”
