Athletic Club Bilbao striker Kike Sola has finally returned to regular training, after missing several months of action due to an ongoing muscular problem.

Kike Sola returned to his boyhood side Athletic Club Bilbao this summer in a €4 million deal from Osasuna and was openly excited about once again playing for the club where he grew up.

However, the 27-year-old’s dream return to Athletic took a bad turn when he pulled up injured at the beginning of September and was ruled out of action for 3-4 weeks.

Sola then experienced two consecutive relapses with his ankle and a muscular injury, which has seen him miss the rest of 2013 with fans wondering just when the striker would be able to return to action.

To the delight of many, Sola was cleared of injury just days before Christmas and, after further fitness training, he has finally returned to regular training with his team-mates.

Sola has even been cleared to resume regular action once again and is available to play in the upcoming Basque derby on January 5th.

Aymeric Laporte has also been cleared of his muscular injuries and will be available for the next match as well, however, center-back Unai Albizua will remain unavailable for another week as he overcomes his own injury.

The return of Kike Sola is already being seen as the major “arrival” of the winter transfer window and will likely add a lot to Valverde’s squad which has had problems as the center-forward position this season.
