Barcelona’s interest in Athletic Club Bilbao center-back Aymeric Laporte has not gone away despite the 19-year-old signing a new contract, however his buy-out clause could turn the Catalans off.

Athletic Club Bilbao center-back Aymeric Laporte has been receiving heavy interest from several European clubs due to his incredible form with the Basque giants this season, with PSG, Arsenal, and Barcelona the sides watching him the closest.

According to several reports in Spain, Barcelona remains the most interested of the three clubs and have identified the 19-year-old as a perfect replacement for Carles Puyol, as he could line up beside Gerard Pique and is left-footed.

However, the French starlet has recently signed a new contract which has seen his buy-out clause rise to €38 million, which Barcelona or any other potential bidders would have to match in order to secure his services.

Laporte has also been very open about his desire to stay at his childhood club and immediately disregarded any rumors about interested clubs at the signing of his new deal.

“I hope to grow here and to continue to improve in all aspects. I feel very good in Bilbao. I’m comfortable here and this club has given me everything in my career. I’m young but I have time to improve and learn more. The club has a lot of faith in me and I am very comfortable and happy here.”

With such a high buy-out clause and the young center-back happy at his current club, Barcelona will likely have to turn their attention elsewhere and have reportedly created a list of options on which can be found Laporte and Balanta.
