Barcelona resume contract talks with Martin Montoya

Barcelona have reportedly resumed contract extension talks with right-back, Martin Montoya, whose contract expires this coming 30th June and has expressed his desire to remain with the club, despite interest from abroad.

Martin MontoyaDue to the injury to regular starter, Montoya has seen his role increase and has felt the confidence of manager, Tata Martino, after he threatened to consider leaving the club due to his lack of minutes.

However, due to the recent playing time and larger role, Montoya has informed his agent, José María Orobitg to resume contract extension negotiations, which had previously been placed on hold due to the player’s lack of minutes and willingness to entertain other offers.

On 1st of January, Montoya will be free to negotiate a new contract with any team he wishes, which includes Barcelona.

The 22-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Italian Serie A giants, Inter Milan, who will closely monitor the ongoing negotiations with Barcelona.
