Real Betis are reportedly the favourites to land coveted Atletico Madrid striker, Leo Baptistão and are hoping to finalise the deal by Friday in order to incorporate the Brazilian-born youngster before next week’s Copa del Rey tie against, Athletic Bilbao.

Leo BaptistaoIn an interview with Spanish radio station ‘Onda Cero’ following the Champions for Life charity match, Rayo Vallecano manager Paco Jemez hinted that Baptistão could join Betis over his squad.

“If Leo is going to Betis, I wish the best for him and for Betis in this new phase.”

According to Sevilla-based news outlet, Estadio Deportivo, Betis’ economic offer is more than Rayo can match and therefore the move is all but done, but Betis manager Juan Carlos Garrido is hoping to wrap up the move ahead of the weekend, in order to incorporate the 21-year-old for the next six-months.

Further reports claim that Betis are going to extraordinary lengths to secure the loan signing of Baptistao, with them covering the entirety of his €850,000 salary, whilst also paying Atlético a fee of €1,250,000 plus commissions, taking the overall outlay to over €2.3 million. This, for what will be just a five-month loan contract.

The key to finally allowing Baptistao to go on loan was Atletico securing the loan of Metalist midfielder, Jose Sosa, which was confirmed on Thursday after a successful medical.

Betis is also looking into signing Valencia striker, Dorlan Pabon and reportedly made a €750,000 loan offer.
