In his pre-match press conference, Camacho spoke about the team’s goals for 2014, before discussing Saturday’s match against the joint league leaders.

“We’ve had a good run of results in recent matches, but we’re up against a strong, tough rival.  However we’re also strong playing at our home ground, and a win on Saturday to give us 23 points would put us in a good position.  It’s always special for me to play Atlético, I’ve got some great memories from my time there.  I hope they can win the League this season as they’ve shown just how good they are.

Camacho then spoke about his own season, which has experienced it’s own fair share of twists and turns, but looked like things were improving after his goal against Elche before the winter break.

“On an individual level, I hope I can stay away from injury, but I hope the team achieves as much success as possible, starting with the important match on Saturday.

“The Christmas holidays came at the right time for us, to give us time to rest.  I’m pleased I’ve had the chance to play in recent games, and with regards to anything having changed, that’s for the coach to say, I’m just concentrating on working as hard as I can.

“It was me that happened to get the goal [against Elche] although we had several other opportunities to score.  We really needed to win that match.  We’re aware that Atlético are a very physical team, so we need to stay strong and work together on Saturday in order to keep the three points at home.”

Camacho concluded by discussing the possibility of winter transfers coming in and challenging the current players for playing time.

“We’re all feeling comfortable in the team now, but if new players join us then that’ll be great, but if not, no problem.”
