Getafe manager Luis García acknowledged that his side were well beaten by Sevilla, but explained that given the difference in stature of the two clubs, it’s hardly surprising.

Luis GarcíaFollowing the 3-0 defeat at Sevilla, when asked if there seems to be a problem getting good results against teams above them in La Liga, Getafe manager Luis García dismissed there being a sense of fear, but insisted that his side must compete better.

“I don’t know if we’re fearful of competing above us. We’re behind them, but up to now, we’ve done enough to be up there with them. We’re now in the middle of the table, but we need to get ourselves back up there.”

As far as García was concerned, Sevilla were worthy winners and his team offered no real contest.

“They have been superior to us in every aspect and Sevilla have been the much better side.”

In conclusion though, despite any expectations for Getafe to push amongst the European positions, García noted that given the huge difference in financial capability, it’s extremely tough to match the bigger clubs.

“People think that we can be up there with Sevilla, Valencia, or Athletic Club Bilbao, but we simply can’t compete with the budget we have. It’s impossible and what’s more, we’re content with what we have.”
