Ivan Rakitic set to sign contract extension with Sevilla
Sevilla captain, Ivan Rakitic is reportedly set to sign a contract extension with the Andalusian side, but the contract will contain a lower release clause between €24 and €28 million.
Rumors have continued to swirl regarding the future of Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic with various media outlets claiming that Manchester United and PSG are heavily interested in making a move for the 25-year-old midfielder.
However, the Croatian has been very open about his desire to remain at Sevilla stating that he is the club’s captain and is family is very happy at the club, therefore he is not currently interested in making a move away.
This month both Rakitic and Sevilla have made it a priority to discuss a new contract and recent reports from Spanish sports daily, Marca have made it clear that the midfielder will sign a new deal, but that it will also contain a lower release clause.
According to the report, Rakitic and the club have agreed on a new contract and only await the ratification of new President Jose Castro next week before making the new deal official.
Furthermore, the report claims that in the new deal Rakitic’s current release clause of €40 million will be lowered to between €24 and €28 million as the player has requested in case of the desire to move in the future.
