Recio followed up Jeison Murillo’s spectacular overhead match opener with a brace as El Arabi completed the scoring on the 78th minute as home side Granada knocked four past Valladolid.

Athletic Bilbao smashed six past Almeria, scoring three goals in each half at the San Mames following Mikel Rico’s early sixth minute match opener.

Brazilian front man Charles netted two second half goals to help Celta Vigo overcome Valencia, as the home side faced a one goal deficit going into the second half interval.

The fierce battle at the top of the Primera Division yet continues as Atletico Madrid managed to hold down Barcelona to a goalless draw at the Vicente Calderon.

Elsewhere, Cristian Herrera’s 82nd minute effort looked to have sealed the result for Elche, but their celebrations were cut short as Daniel Carrico’s 89th minute header rescued a point for Sevilla. While, Alberto Bueno scored the only goal of the game on the 29th minute as Rayo Vallecano picked up a much needed win away at Getafe.

Sunday saw Osasuna record back to back victories in the league for the first time this season as they narrowly edged past Real Betis. Following the goalless draw between league leaders Barcelona and Atleti, third placed Real Madrid knew that their trip to Espanyol was one in which they couldn’t afford to drop points, eventually finding a way past Espanyol’s sturdy defence Portuguese defender Pepe headed in the 55 minute as Los Blancos closed the gap from five points to just three, edging closer to the top two.

David Barral struck the only goal of the game after 19 minutes of play as his side defended their early lead to secure the win.

Five star Villarreal thumped five past Real Sociedad as Giovani Dos Santos and Ikechukwu Uche scored two each as the Yellow Submarines claimed their first victory in five games.
