Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois admitted that he knows Atleti will make a great effort to acquire his permanent rights from Chelsea this summer but admits it’s up to ‘The Blues’ who have yet to communicate their future plans with the Belgian star.

In an interview with Spanish television station, La Sexta, Courtois spoke about his current situation and how he foresees the potential transfer process.

“We know that Atletico Madrid want to make a great effort to sign me, but it’s up to Chelsea, what they want and what how much they will ask for.”

Courtois went on to add that he has not spoke to Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho and admits that it may need to be done through his agent.

“First, I think my agent will speak to Chelsea to see if I can talk to someone there and we can take the next step.  Atletico is now waiting until Chelsea say something.  I want to know the club’s [intentions] by March or so.”

Courtois went on to add that he doesn’t mind competing against Petr Cech at Chelsea, but doesn’t really want to go to a team and not play, when he has proven to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“I’m not afraid to compete against someone, but I don’t really want to go to a team and not play.  I want to play and if not at Chelsea, it will have to be at another team.”
Courtois concluded by stating that there is “nothing” between him and Barcelona and is fully focused on winning everything with Atletico Madrid this season.

“I’m focused on Atletico and playing.  I’m interested in Atletico and Chelsea.  First I need to speak with Chelsea and what their planes are and after that I’ll see if there’s anything else, but right now I’m only thinking about Atleti and Chelsea.”
