Barcelona centre-back, Gerard Pique scored his second goals of the season to kick-off Barca’s 3-0 win over Malaga at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening and was happy that his side was able to keep hold of their place at the top of La Liga.

In his post-match interview with Canal+, Pique spoke about the match and Messi and Ibrahim Afellay returning from injury.

“In the first half we were dominant, we scored a goal but we could’ve done more.  In the second half it was much easier, we were in control throughout the 90 minutes.

“Despite the bad times, which are normal in such a long season, we remained at the top of La Liga, but we want to be there for much longer.

“Leo always helps with goals but also helps with other things, when he doesn’t score, he assists.  As for Afellay, after being out of action for so long, it was probably an unforgettable experience for him to get a run out and ne he’s with us.  I’m certain he will help us.”

Pique then discussed the resignation of former club president, Sandro Rosell and insists it has no affect on what they do on the pitch.

“On the field of play, this doesn’t affect us, we need to continue to compete just has we have in previous years. It’s a point of discussing and they talk about on the street, but on the field of play we are competing.

“I don’t know if his resignation is detrimental to the club, it’s the decision he made on a personal level, people are above every institution.  If he wanted to leave and be with his family, we must support him.”
