According to a report by Radio Marca, following the change over in president from Sandro Rosell to Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona chose to offer Victor Valdes a new contract in hopes of convincing the Spanish international to remain with the club for the forseeable future.

However, Barcelona has released a statement, catagorically denying the reports and confirmed that they have not and will not attempt to keep Valdes at the club.

“Barcelona categorically deny the information released this afternoon by Radio Marca in regards to a new contract renewal offer for Victor Valdes.”

“The club respects the decision of the player and we, again, want to thank him for the commitment and professionalism demonstrated every day.”
