Sevilla captain, Ivan Rakitic was disappointed by his side’s 1-4 loss to Barcelona in the torrential downpour at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday evening and admits that committing errors against one of the best clubs in the world, proves costly, as they showed this evening.

In his post-match interview, Rakitic spoke about the loss and their desire to recover against Valencia next week.

“Barcelona, in the few chances they had, took advantage and scored important goals, but that’s football.  But we can’t allow ourselves to hang our heads, we played a great game.  Against the best, we can’t afford to make mistakes because they are unforgiving.”

Rakitic then spoke about the first goal, an equaliser by Alexis, which should have been ruled offside.

“It hurts because we did a great job and they looked for whatever error they could find, but that’s football.  We need to lift our heads and think about beating Valencia.”

Rakitic concluded by discussing the future of the team and what they hope to take from this loss.

“I’m relaxed because we’re doing a great job.  There are just a few details that we need to improve.  Barcelona deserved the win but we also have to take something from this.”
