With progress comes recognition, as is the case with Athletic Club Bilbao’s 19-year-old center-back Aymeric Laporte who has become one of the best defenders in La Liga this season under new manager Ernesto Valverde.

Recent rumors have suggested that the likes of Arsenal, PSG, and Barcelona are all heavily interested in making a move for the French starlet and could even be prepared to pay his buy-out clause.

However, Laporte has since come out publicly to discuss the matter and has finally put an end to all of the rumors by claiming that he is not interested in leaving Athletic Club Bilbao who he referred to as his family.

“The rumors don’t bother me, I’m not thinking about other teams. I’m very happy at Athletic and I’m doing well. I don’t care about the rumors, I’m ignoring them. Athletic is like my family, I’m satisfied here, trust me.”

The 19-year-old went on to discuss the possibility of being included in France’s World Cup roster, something Laporte is working very hard for.

“I’m playing very hard and want to go to the World Cup. So far my hard work is paying off. But in the end I want to play at the highest level that I can personally.”

Laporte recently signed a new contract with Athletic Club Bilbao at the end of 2013 which will last until 2018 and includes a €36 million buy-out clause.
