Real Madrid attacking midfielder, Gareth Bale was elated by his side’s 0-2 2nd leg Copa del Rey win over cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid and was happy to have booked a trip to his first final with his new club.

In his post-match interview, Bale, who played the entire match after come back from injury, was happy with the win and the performance of the team.

“We played a great match. We did very well in the tie overall and deserve to be in the cup final.

“We are doing very well in attack, but we have improved a lot in defence. We are playing very well. It is great to see that what we work on in training comes off when we use it in matches and gets us the results.”

Bale then spoke about the performance of French centre-back, Raphael Varane, who made his first appearances after being sidelined for months with a knee injury.

“He’s an incredible player and played very well. It is great to have him back to help us to be stronger for what remains of the season.”
