Saúl Ñíguez renews with Atletico Madrid until 2019

Atletico Madrid midfielder, Saúl Ñíguez has renewed his contract with the club until 2019 and has a new release clause set at €24 million.

Saul, on loan with Rayo Vallecano this season, has impressed not only Atletico Madrid, but other clubs around Europe, forcing Los Colchoneros to renew the gifted 19-year-old’s contract, and lock down another core player for the future.

The versatile midfielder has been a blessing to current manager, Paco Jemez, who has slotted the Elche-born star from midfield to a more defensive role in an attempt to shore up their woeful backline.

Atletico Madrid, by signing Saul to an extension, will bring him back next season to fight for first team football, as they feel he is prepared to join other promising stars such as Koke and Javier Manquillo (who both renewed their contracts last summer), as Diego Simeone prepares to usher in a new generation to his already stellar squad.
