Cristiano Ronaldo’s ban upheld, will not play against Elche
TAD, the Tribunal of Sporting Administrators has upheld the three-match ban of Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, forcing the Portuguese star to see out the remaining one match, meaning he will not feature in Saturday’s contest against Elche.
Cristiano received a three-match ban from Spain’s Competition Committee for putting his hand to Ander Iturraspe’s face after the Athletic player appeared to head-butt him with the Ballon d’Or winner proceeding to make a gesture to imply “You’ve got a lot of nerve.” to the referee, which sent him off the pitch and was later handed the lengthy ban.
Real Madrid appealed the ban before the tribunal, but the Spanish Sports Disciplinary Committee chose to uphold the punishment, keeping the star out of Saturday’s match, much to the chagrin of Real Madrid and the delight of Elche.
However, Cristiano will now be available for next weekend’s crucial derby match against joint league leaders, Atletico Madrid.
