Cerezo unconcerned by derby loss
Posted by Staff Writer on December 6th, 2012 08:00 PM | News, Primera LigaIn a move that is likely to enrage supporters of the club, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has denied that the 2-0 defeat against rivals Real Madrid was anything other than “just three points” dropped.

Saturday’s loss at the Santiago Bernabeu would have no doubt dented the pride of Rojiblancos supporters who believed, going into the game, that there was a genuine chance of recording their first win over their cross town rivals since 1999.
As it was, a poor showing in particular from Rademel Falcao, of whom much was expected, saw that the points eluded Atletico once again, goals from Ronaldo and Ozil giving Real the victory.
President Cerezo however has been quick to move on from the defeat saying “A game is a game and the three points in this case went to Real Madrid but ultimately they are just three points. What awaits us now is Deportivo La Coruna. We’ll hope to play a good game, win and keep our run in the league going. We have done very well so far.”
He concluded “The derby was not a particularly hard derby, it was normal. There was no good play [from either side] in the first half and Madrid played better in the second half, but nothing more.”
The win sees Real close to within 5 points of Atletico as we approach the last games before the La Liga winter break.
