Real Mallorca have released an official statement saying that they ‘regret the unfortunate circumstances irresponsibly caused’ over the signing of Alejandro Alfaro from Sevilla.

The reported deal of which Alfaro left Sevilla for Mallorca over the summer was agreed at €700,000 but has instead has cost the club €1.7 million prompting administrators and solicitors to launch an investigation.

The administrators of Mallorca have requested to the Commercial Court Two in Palma, Mallorca to reverse a payment of €500,000 made to Viasport of Switzerland which was paid as commission to have exclusive talks with the player.

Mallorca as a club however are claiming the administrators have got it wrong.

“The administrators approved the signing of Alejandro Alfaro,” the statement said. “The contract was signed by Jaume Cladera and Llorenç Serra Ferrer on behalf of the club. The contract was approved and countersigned by the administrators. That is the only relevant fact surprisingly omitted from the administrator’s report.”

A copy of Alfaro’s transfer contract has been posted on the internet and it clearly states that all the payments have been made, totalling €1.7m, with two administrator signatures at the bottom.
