Deportivo La Coruna have completed the loan signing of Silvio from Atletico Madrid.

imagesNew coach Domingos Paciencia is determined to bolster his defensive options after first half to season that saw the Galician club leak 39 goals in 17 games.

Silvio, 25, who completed his medial in La Coruna on Thursday afternoon, played under Paciencia during their time at Braga back in Portugal and he helped them reach the 2011 Europa League final.

However, his move to Atletico Madrid in that same year has not gone well and he featured very little for Diego Simeone’s side.

The Portugal international could be followed by more new arrivals at Riazor as Paciencia told reporters.

Silvio is not well-known here [in Spain], but he has a lot of quality,” he said. “We need players to make the team stronger.

“We are working to do that, inside what is possible, with Silvio and others who could come.

“I am not going to reveal which players might come, but we are all making an effort to get a more balanced team. Some positions are not as strong as we would like.”
