Dominguez scored the winning penalty with just seven minutes remaining to give Rayo a first ever win against the club he joined in 2010 but featured very little for and he expressed his delight after the result.
“I had all the confidence to hit it and although Piti takes our penalties, it was a great gesture from him to let me,” he told Rayo’s official website.
“It can be a special goal, with the chants and things the fans did against me, but I think I behaved well and I am delighted we got back to winning after two losses.
In addition, I learned that this was our first win at Mestalla, which is something beautiful and important for us, it’s historic.”
Chori Dominguez won the Inside Spanish Football Player of the Week for his performance against Valencia.
