Former Real Madrid defender Ezequiel Garay is expected to complete a move Manchester United later this summer.

Garay has been in spectacular form for Portuguese side Benfica this season and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has become a keen admirer, with the English club reportedly on the verge of an agreement to complete the deal in June.

Ferguson believes Garay can fill the boots of England centre-back Rio Ferdinand, who is expected to leave Old Trafford after 11 seasons with the club.

Benfica have given Garay a massive £30m asking price but United are keen make the move happen, although Real Madrid, Garay’s former club would receive a large percentage of that deal.
