Gonzalez: We leave with our heads held high
Posted by TomConn on November 29th, 2012 07:00 AM | Copa Del Rey, News, Primera Liga, Segunda LigaAlaves manager, Natxo Gonzalez stated that the referee was not to call a penalty on an Alex Song handball in the closing minutes of the match and a disallowed goal that was legal, but overall, is satisfied with the work done by his team in keeping the match at a reasonable 3-1 against the Primera-leading Catalans.

In his post-match press conference, Gonzalez, who was a former bench coach for Barcelona, stated that his dream was to advance over Barcelona but insisted that he is satisfied with his team’s performance in making things complicated for the Blaugrana.
“Before the match you dream of advancing over Barcelona, but not at all during the match. We came with the intention of playing the match, trying to counterattack and make things complicated for our opponent. I am very satisfied with the work we’ve done.
“I leave with my head held high. Like we did in Vitoria we led a balanced game. There have been times in both matches that I we put them in difficult positions and it’s because we did things very well.”
Gonzalez concluded by commenting on the work of the referee.
“It was a key play, and it’s too bad they disallowed a legal goal. It probably wouldn’t have had any effect on the result, but it’s not the same as the 3-1 result.”
