The controversial decision from Mourinho to drop Casillas for the first time in over decade spent at the club by Spain’s number one paid a heavy price on Madrid’s title challenge with Malaga beating them 3-2 before the winter break.
Mourinho claimed at the time that the decision was ‘technical’ but Casillas is un-fussed by what the reasons behind it were and is remaining focused on reclaiming the number one spot.
“I’m training myself to fight, to fight and to recover the position. It is the goal that I have and that the coach selects me in the next game,” he told reporters.
The Spain international added: “I feel good but I’m not a machine, I have to train every day and there are better and worse times, but I feel fine.
“Above Casillas is Madrid. The decision is the coach’s.
“In any case, the day I no longer have the desire to work, I’ll stop.”
