Barcelona playmaker Andres Iniesta has warned his team-mates not to be complacent when they return to action against Espanyol this weekend.

iniestafcb--478x270The Catalans hold a healthy nine-point lead over second place Atletico Madrid and are yet to lose a game in La Liga but Iniesta believes they must not take anything for granted.

“Every season it is a story that may seem similar and we are almost all the same players. This season we are motivated as last year and will fight to the end for the league and the Champions League,” he told Cataluyna Radio.

“When things do not go for you, you try that extra to change it. The team is doing well and I am confident that we can arrive at the end of the season at our best in all competitions.

“Have we won the league yet? We would be wrong to think that.”

Iniesta then touched on the health of coach Tito Vilanova, before being quizzed over a new contract.

“Like everything in life, when there is a blow, it is hard to take, you have to draw strength from where it is, and if anything fight even more for those that do not have the strength or the health that we may have.

“Having a life here would be nice, because I was 12 when I started and to finish here would be very special.”
