Jorge Jesus: There is no team that has done to Barca what Benfica did

Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus believes that his squad has a strong chance of winning the Europa League, but was disappointed they weren’t able to pass into the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

In his post-match press conference, Jesus discussed his side’s 0-0 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Wednesday and despite sharing the points, a Celtic win saw the Scottish side advance while the Portuguese side was sent to the Europa League.

“This match was something I haven’t seen all year.  No one has done to Barca what Benfica did.  How’s played at the Camp Nou like Benfica did today?  It’s safe to say we have a chance to win the Europa League.

“It says everything that UEFA’s Man of the Match was Pinto.  You cannot say that elimination is a failure, but I would say that the goal was to pass through the group stand and yes, we have not accomplished what we wanted.”
